Hailing from Franschoek in the Western Cape of South Africa, ‘Dave’ as he likes to be known, has over thirty years of experience gained from vineyard and farm management in South Africa. His management expertise comes from heading up several irrigation and viticultural services companies that established and maintained vineyards and provided technical advice to many wine estates.
Dave and his family moved to New Zealand at the end of 2019 and has spent the past four years applying his skills and expertise across vineyards in the Bannockburn sub region of Central Otago.
He loves cooking but has definite views about not using wine when he cooks – “Why desecrate a good wine by cooking with it?” We’re all hoping we’ll get to try his Oxtail ‘potjiekos’ sometime soon! Apparently, it’s made in a round, three-legged cast iron pot and cooked for at least 3 hours on an open fire! His lovely wife Carin has already made a South African Milk Tart for us to try – and we’re converts!
Dave took up the reigns for the viticultural and vineyard management of the Misha’s Vineyard single estate at the beginning of 2024 and we’re delighted he has joined our team.
