Pinot Gris ’08. Very bright and clear with emerging aromas of sour apple and warm apple juice, white flowers, chalk and schist notes. Off dry palate with intense fruit character, very obvious structure. A medium ++ finish – overall a very well balanced wine with a strong finish and huge potential.
Riesling ’08. Warm citrus and complexing aromas that include very ripe grapefruit, dramatic white spice, baking powder and sherbet notes. The palate is equally dramatic with strong terroir elements, superb acidity and balance. Long mineral/stony/slate flavours, considerable acidity and balancing rs all come together a tort focus. Sits somewhere between a Kabinet and Spatlese style. Overall an outstanding wine and my favorite at the tasting.
Gewurztraminer ’08. Intensly floral with white flowers that are both delicate yet distinctive. Moderate complexity on the palate, but somewhat closed as well (youth). The palate is explosive! Dramatic structure and palate appeal. Firm presence of spices especially clove and ginger, a touch of warmth from the alcohol. A long, spiced yet subtle fruit finish.
Pinot Noir ‘07. A wine with some instant impact – very fruity with fruit jubes, raspberry, craisin and morello cherry and new season black cherry notes. A touch cordial like. Ripe sweet mid-palate. No mistaking the varietal fruit character of this wine. Moderate spice (oak) and mix of fruit and oak tannins lead to a moderate + finish.
