Bob’s Wine Reviews, January 2010
“- a very impressive range of wines!”
Misha’s Vineyard Impromptu Central Otago NZ Pinot Noir 2008
84/100
Moderately dense Pinot Noir with red cherry, licorice, raspberry and ironstone flavours. Fleshy wine with good varietal characters but a slightly hard structure.
Misha’s Vineyard The High Note Central Otago NZ Pinot Noir 2008
90/100
More concentrated than the Impromptu Pinot Noir with red and black cherry plus a hint of spice. Very ripe flavours without being at all jammy. Superbly structured with an impressively lingering finish.
Misha’s Vineyard Verismo Central Otago NZ Pinot Noir 2008
93/100
Misha’s flagship Pinot Noir is certainly the densest and most powerful wine in their range. An array of red and dark fruit flavours with licorice and Oriental spices. Very impressive Pinot Noir with good ageing potential.
Misha’s Vineyard Dress Circle Central Otago NZ Pinot Gris 2009
93/100
Lovely elegant wine with good palate weight and an appealing creamy texture. Desne pear and mineral fruit flavours supported by bready lees characters while a suggestion of nutty oak adds further complexity.
Misha’s Vineyard Lyric Central Otago NZ Riesling 2009
90/100
Off/dry Riesling with lovely rich, mellow citrus and mineral flavours. The wine has layers of subtle flavours that are hard to describe but easy to appreciate. Intriguing wine that at first seems quite soft but tension from acidity build toward the end of its lengthy finish.
Misha’s Vineyard Limelight Central Otago NZ Riesling 2009
93/100
Lovely juicy Riesling with lime, mineral and stone fruit flavours. The wine has a great balance, developing exquisite tension between sweetness (26g/l RS) and fine, juicy acidity. I preferred it to the slightly lighter, but notheless pretty 2008 vintage.
Misha’s Vineyard The Starlet Central Otago NZ Sauvignon Blanc 2009
92/100
This is the first vintage of a wine desinged for export markets only. Intense, pure wine with pungent passion fruit flavours. It has an ethereal texture and deliciously soft acidity. Sauvignon Blanc with the purity and power of a good Riesling.
Misha’s Vineyard The Gallery Central Otago NZ Gewurztraminer 2009
84/100
Soft, gentle and delicate Gewurztraminer with pure Turkish Delight flavours. Pretty wine although I preferred the more concentrated 2008 vintage.
