Misha’s Vineyard Launch. Last year I was blown away by the quality of wines from Misha’s first release from 2007 and 2008. This year Misha and Andy Wilkinson bought their wines to Auckland for a memorable tasting and lunch at The Grove Restaurant in Auckland.
They have also just announced that their wines will now be distributed by Negociants NZ with considerably more volume available than last year.
Winemaker Olly Masters has crafted a range of exceptional aromatic wines that display the terroir and climate of this stunning Central Otago site. For more on Misha’s Vineyard and where to purchase go to www.mishasvineyard.com
Misha’s Vineyard Limelight Riesling 2009
Lime/lemon aromas crisp zingy wine medium sweet, showing a wonderful expression of Central Otago fruit, a wine that will continue to develop for at least 3-4 years, about $26 in NZ.
Misha’s Vineyard Dress Circle Pinot Gris 2009
Big bold wine with substantial alcohol, stone fruit and spice dominate the palate. Rich full bodied wine, a small portion of which was fermented in oak. Serious style that looks its best served with food, about $27 in NZ.
Misha’s Vineyard The Gallery Gewurztraminer 2009
Intense floral spicy aromas, but delicate and subtle on the palate, don’t serve this too cold; it seemed to open up beautifully as it warmed in the glass, about $28 in NZ.
Misha’s Vineyard The High Note Pinot Noir 2008
Dark dense black fruit bouquet, full bodied wine with concentrated cherry and plum flavours, a wine that is still youthful and needs some time to develop its full potential, should be a cracker by next summer, about $45 in NZ.
